Announcement No. 4 on 8^th Shanghai International Youth Science and Technology Expo 2020 & “Rising SciTech Star” International Invitational

The 8^th Shanghai International Youth Science and Technology Expo & “Rising SciTech Star” International Invitational (hereinafter referred to as the Youth SciTech Expo)will take place onlinein late July instead of the originally-planned physical event owing to the global novel coronavirus situation. At present, preparations are proceeding in good order.This Announcement No. 4 sets out adjustments to the requirements for participating studentsattachedwith updated application forms, reflecting adaptations to the physical-to-online change. 

The Youth SciTech Expo will mainly consist of two major components, namely online exhibitions and online summits. Online exhibitions,centeringaround the theme “Science · Innovation · Dream”, will include an Exhibition on Youth SciTech Innovation Works and an Exhibition on SciTech Innovation Education Resources. The Youth SciTech Expo invites currently-enrolled secondary school students of countries/regions throughout the world to participate in the Exhibition on Youth SciTech Innovation Works. Exhibitors of this exhibition will be currently-enrolled full-time secondary schoolstudentsborn between 2002 and 2007, whoare to apply for participation in the exhibition as a school, an individual student or a team (of not more than 3 students) and submit their scientific and technological innovation accomplishments (works or exploration achievements) for display and exchange. The exhibitors of the Exhibition on SciTech Innovation Education Resources are Shanghai Youth Scientific Innovation Practice Station, the education bureaus of all districts of Shanghai as well as Hi-tech enterprises or youth innovation education firms and institutions, which are to apply for participation in the exhibition on the basis oftheir achievements and quests in the field of educational resources, philosophies, approaches and future trends in respectof youth scientific and technologicalinnovation. Online Summitsinvites famous principals and science teachers to register for the Summit of World-famous Principals and the Salon of SciTech Teachers with their teaching and research achievements centering around the theme “Future-oriented Science and Technology Education”. They will exchange and share original ideas and approaches related to scientific and technological innovation education and explore future developments of innovation education.

Each of the exhibitors, whether students or organizations, selected through a review process will receive an invitation letter and obtain a separate online exhibition “booth” to demonstrate innovation works. Each of the principals and teachers selected as speakers at the summits will receive an invitation letter. The Organizing Committee will publish updates and related information on a special webpage designed for the principals and teachers. The Youth SciTech Expo is held for publicwelfare, charging no fees or expenses whatsoever.Students, principals, teachers and organizations from all over the world are welcome to email their application forms (see Annex 1, Annex 2 and Annex 3 for details) to us to make preliminary registration for the exhibitions and summits, and make official registration online in May.
